I always point clients to StartLogic when they ask me what hosting company I recommend, and recently I found that I'm not the only one who thinks highly of this super affordable host. Check out this review by a popular website that evaluates hosting companies and ranks them based on their set criteria...Currently StartLogic is #1. Check it out:

The "Millennials" Are Coming, Morley Safer On The New Generation Of American Workers
Tuesday, November 13, 2007 2:38 AM
(CBS) Stand back all bosses! A new breed of American worker is about to attack everything you hold sacred: from giving orders, to your starched white shirt and tie. They are called, among other things, "millennials." There are about 80 million of them, born between 1980 and 1995, and they're rapidly taking over from the baby boomers who are now pushing 60.

They were raised by doting parents who told them they are special, played in little leagues with no winners or losers, or all winners. They are laden with trophies just for participating and they think your business-as-usual ethic is for the birds. And if you persist in the belief you can, take your job and shove it.

As correspondent Morley Safer reports, corporate America is so unnerved by all this that companies like Merrill Lynch, Ernst & Young, Disney and scores of others are hiring consultants to teach them how to deal with this generation that only takes "yes" for an answer.

Direct Mail Advertising Quick-Tips
Tuesday, October 09, 2007 7:47 PM
Quick tips for a successful direct mailer:
  1. Invest in a good mailing list. Don't just sent out your post cards out at random. You will have more success sending your mail piece to 500 people who are more likely to buy your product, or services, then mailing out 5,000 mailers to random people.
  2. Create a great headline. Make a headline that will make your audience want to read on, rather then just dump your mail piece in the trash. Use definitive keywords that convince your audience that you have something that they need. A weak headline, will normally draw the "I've heard this one before" response.
  3. Provide Incentives. Sometimes hooking potential clients with a great headline is not enough. Now it's time to reel them in. How so? Well, a great strategy is providing specials, sales, or discounts for your mail piece recipients.
  4. Keep your design simple. People are more used to going to a print shop, rather then a graphic designer for their post cards. Unfortunately, a lot of times the inhouse designers at these print shops don't have much of a background in graphic design, or they are simply forced to produce quantity rather then quality. So what you get is a design that is cluttered, with no focus on it's layout or design. This makes for design that is visibly impossible to read sometimes. So make sure your design is as focused as your message, or else your audience might miss out on the bait.

Integrating Your Blog Into Your Existing Website
Friday, April 27, 2007 1:09 PM
Blogging has become an integral part of web design in the last few years. It provides an alternative method to paying thousands of dollars to graphic designers, like myself :), for creating custom websites. Better yet, most blog sites also come with their very own Content Management System, or Admin Panel, so that you can have control over updating and maintaining the site - to a certain degree. Most people however come to a stumbling block when trying to integrate their blog with an existing, or soon-to-be, custom built website. You have to have knowledge of CSS and HTML to accomplish such a feat. And, even then it can still be really challenging...Until now, that is. I think I may have found the answer to every designer's, and non-designers, dream. It's called INBLOGIT.

INBLA...who!?!? Unique name, I know. But, they can call themselves whatever they want as far as I'm concerned. INBLOGIT has somehow managed to make a blog that can be easily integrated into any site. Well, you still do need a little CSS/HTML experience, but by far, INBLOGIT has to be the most user-friendly blogging software/website out there. It thinks like I think...Like you think. It's simple...But most importantly it's FREE!!!

I've messed with Wordpress, Blogger, and TypePad, and I have to say that this was definitely the easiest to work with for integrating into an existing site. I never was able to fully get the look and feel I wanted with the other blogging softeware/sites, but this one was like bam! Right on the money with what I wanted to accomplish with my existing site.

So, if you just happened to stumble on to this site while looking for a way to integrate Wordpress or Blogger, and never heard of INBLOGIT, try them out. I guarantee you wont be sorry. And, no I'm not in any way affiliated, or trying to sell you something for my benefit (It's FREE)....I'm just someone who happened to learn everything he knows from kind people that shared their resources and open source files. So I figured this would be a good opportunity to start sharing back. In fact, I have a lot of useful links and files, specially for designers that are little handicapped with back-end stuff, that I will be putting up on this blog...So make sure you come back. You will find them all under the Designer Tools category.
